I didn't think I'll finish this entry for
somein30, but thankfully I made 10 icons, trying to show me being here, and making icons. I went with a EXTRA HARD MODE (crazy, right?).

When I saw this challenge I was super excited about it...and it lasted for an hour, as I dug through my old icons, and I realized that my "style" didn't really evolve. I'm a simple gal, I don't do much of crazy icons, but here, and there I tried a few techniques/trends (and no, I'm not talking about my very sad time of "it's not an inspiration it's a rip-off" fuck-up :D). Also unfortunately there was the whole tinypic/photobucket period of time, so there is a big gap between 2007, when I started this whole journey, to 2013 when I started my icon community, and posted (and saved) my icons on a more friendly sites.
So...2007, what a time? Honestly, what a time, as I don't remember a thing :) As for my icons, it all started with a lot of celebrity icons, and selective colors play. It was the muddy/gray-ish coloring, and un-inspirational crops. It lasted for a long time, so all the lost icons were as boring as my first attempt at this.
2013 - For me negative space was discovered, and I milked it to the poin of no return (let's be honest...I still do). But then I did it with a little twist, I loved that floating in the air/center crop.
2013/14 - The INTRO font entered my life, and I put it everywhere. I'm horrible at text in icons, so my idea of text was one word (sometimes it was a short sentence), multiplied, and placed as a background. So creative, right? Also those years, I think Once Upon A Time was my most iconned show. Loved it so much (I think I stopped watching at the end of season 5, because I was just a bit bored with it, and they went in a direction that I was not happy with).
2015 - I fell in love with the fake painting clothes, and faces - to enhance all the features, the yellow blonde hair, and rosy cheeks. It was an odd trend. Also I was accepted to the Vampire Diaries elite challenge, so I made a lot of tVD icons back then.
2015-2016 - I obsessed over Constantine (I still do, especially about the fact that there should be second season), and I put fire on everything, especially poor John :) And in the same year I...finally watched LOST (the whole thing), and made a lot of icons from the show. Also making everything blurry for some reason. That was my iconning style back then.
2016 - Arrow was, as a tv series with superheroes, my favorite of all time, so there are a lot of icons. But from 2016, I think I started obsessing over it in icons. As for my trendy style, back then it was a dramatic, and heavy light, even better when vibrant.
2017 - I tried with the gray and flat icons, but I never quite got that look (tturners, was a master for me). Also still on the Arrow train, especially with the huge battle that neatmonster organized, where we iconned 6 seasons of it (Go check it out HERE, and HERE).
2019 - It was a sad year for my iconning. I made 3 posts, and I think 90% of those were Celebrities. I went back to my favorite style - close crop.
2020 - This was a year! Horrible for the mankind, but pretty good for icon makers - as during lockdown, a lot of us came back, and made icons! As for me, I discovered my passion for gritty and grungy look, and my latest obsession became Banshee.
That's all folks. The sad tale of my 13 years here, with ups and downs, hoping for the inspiration to still be here for some time.

Date: 2020-12-28 11:10 pm (UTC)All the different coloring styles look lovely, the close crops are just stunning and the lighting ♥♥♥ And you can also differentiate every different 'era' and make them look polished - so good! :) I'm in love with the Gaga icon (so quintessentially yours!), but also love 1, 4, 5, 7, and 10 :D

Date: 2020-12-29 05:06 pm (UTC)1 is suuuper pretty, ngl the style you're describing doesn't sound good at all yet this icon is amazing! The toned down contrast and matte coloring works so well in a way that looks inspired by old trends, but completely new. So, perfect for the challnge :)
3 is gorgeous and Intro is great for this type of text! I love the text use here and the purples look so good. The coloring and lighting in 4 are perfection, and I love the heavy shadows and dark vibrancy in 7!
Omg I totally hear you on 8, that was definitely a style I also wanted to try but never really got anywhere with it! (and you're right that
The last icon is great too, I love a good grunge icon and the crop is awesome.
Thanks so much for entering, and yeah I really hope the best for your inspiration as well! I've started collecting a mega icon archive of sorts, going through old icons to save the ones I like in advance so that there's a collection of good icons to choose from for inspirations posts in the future, anyway, one thing I noticed during this is that you've been such a consistently active presence in the iconing comunity for all these years and it's awesome. Thanks so much for sharing your journey! <3

Date: 2020-12-29 09:22 pm (UTC)It's always been a great getaway from real life (especially for the last few years), so I'm just happy being around, and seeing that LJ is still alive after all these years.

Date: 2021-01-03 11:35 pm (UTC)I absolutely love 1, everyone knows I'm a sucker for center crops and the coloring is great. Totally dig the gray(ish)/low contrast coloring. And LOL at the Intro font, it was not just you, I also pretty much used it every time I put a text on my icons and if I remember correctly pretty much everyone used it :D And I love the coloring and composition in the OUAT icon! I must say I always loved the close crop/dramatic lighting in your icons, the Oliver one is great. That battle was awesome, I didn't participate in all the season since I dropped of the face of the earth, but it still made Arrow my most iconned fandom for that year. I always admire your celebrity icons, I'm so used to coloring screencaps that every time I try with UHD image of some celebrity, I just can't do anything :D And finally - Banshee! icons. OMG, I absolutely loved that show! I think I have watched it 2-3 times? It's one of my favourites! ♥
